The SDP team has been serving patients in the area for more than 20 years, originally in Royston and for the past 16 years in Melbourn, on the science park. Under the clinical leadership of US-trained restorative specialist Myles Dakin, SDP offers a comprehensive range of general and specialist treatments for adults and children.

Our team is what makes the SDP difference.

Myles Dakin

Myles is our clinical lead and a director of Specialist Dental Partners. He qualified at Guy’s Hospital in 1989 and in 1993 passed the primary fellowship examination at the Royal College of Surgeons. After an early career in maxillo-facial trauma surgery, Myles completed post-graduate training at the prestigious University of Texas, where he taught undergraduates and earned a Masters’ degree in biological sciences and certificate in advanced prosthodontics. During this time, he was granted a Membership in Restorative Dentistry from the Royal College of Surgeons and was admitted to the Specialist Register (UK) as a Prosthodontist. On returning to the UK, Myles entered private practice, first in Harley Street and Wimpole Street before taking on a local practice in Royston and building SDP as it is today.

Outside of dentistry, Myles works on his pharmaceutical development company which now has a late-stage product for serious burns, as well as a full pipeline for other indications. He lives with his partner (the ‘other’ Hatty), as well as two cats (Dougal and Scout) and – when they visit – his three adult children. He is also much enthused by cars (especially Alfas), motorbikes and his beloved e-bike, loves food, is surprisingly good at yoga and is interested in almost everything.

Bridget Geraghty

Bridget has spent her whole professional career as a dental nurse with SDP. She knows the clinic inside-out. For her, the best thing about the job is working with the public; each person has a different story. She loves to chat, so this is the perfect job! Bridget also really enjoys supporting full mouth rebuilds and finds it incredibly satisfying to see the end result: the total transformation of a person’s appearance and confidence. With her relaxed, friendly nature, Bridget is amazing at calming nervous patients and helping them to feel more at ease in the dentist chair. Away from the clinic, she is kept more than busy by her young son and her wider circle of family and friends.

Kevin Esplin

Kevin trained at King’s College Hospital, London and continued his studies at the University of Connecticut where he graduated in the Speciality of Family Dentistry. He has been a specialist dental practitioner for over 35 years in Cambridge . He is a registered Specialist in Prosthodontics and has been placing dental implants since 1989. Kevin has lectured worldwide recent times on all aspects of implantology and dental  rehabilitation and has taught and mentored in dental implantology for younger dentists for the the past 15 years. In his spare time he has a keen interest in all aspects of sport but his main pastime is cycling and he is now developing his skills in watercolours.

Olaf Neumann

Olaf specialises in Endontics (root canal treatments) and is also an excellent general dentist. After qualifying in 1992 from the University of Leipzig in Germany, he managed his own general dental practice for 20 years, providing a comprehensive range of treatments including endodontics and advanced restorative dentistry. Olaf continued his dental studies and in 2002 obtained a PhD from Leipzig University. He also holds a post graduate degree in Endodontics from the Dental Association of Saxony, Germany and is a member of the British Endodontic Society. When not in clinic, Olaf is a enthusiastic on-road and off-road motorcyclist, and with his wife, Anett, travels extensively in the UK and Europe. He is fluent in English and German.

Rishi Patel

Rishi has recently moved to Cambridge and outside work is a hands-on dad to his young daughter. He also comes with hidden talents as prior to qualifying as a dentist, he worked as an IT manager in the NHS!

Rishi joined SDP in 2018 and is a versatile clinician, offering both hygiene and general dental services.  Rishi is calm and friendly and is brilliant at helping patients feel relaxed during treatment. He makes an excellent addition to the SDP team, and a thoroughly entertaining double-act when working with Hattie.

Alice Thorp

Alice joined SDP in 2005, choosing a career in dental nursing for the contact with people it brings, the daily challenges and the new and fascinating things to learn. She especially enjoys working with children, helping and teaching them to clean their teeth and making sure they feel less scared about coming to the dentist. She’s highly organised and an excellent multi-tasker, bringing energy, expertise, a lot of laughter and fun to her work.

Fiona Remnant

Fiona is our dental Therapist. She is a member of the British Association of Dental Therapists and the British Society of Dental Hygiene and Therapy. Fiona wanted to work hands on with people in health care and chose dentistry over 20 years ago. She was particularly drawn to Dental Therapy as it provides the perfect mix of interesting and challenging work. Fiona is versatile, having also qualified as a hygienist, and can perform a range of fillings and extractions. She is a calm, relaxed person and has a natural way of making sure patients feel the same. Fiona gets immense satisfaction in helping adults and children overcome dental anxiety and educating people on the importance of oral health, especially in relation to their overall health and wellbeing. In her spare time, Fiona loves running, reading, travelling, music, theatre and learning – she enjoys continuing professional development and frequently attends courses and refreshers so that she can deliver the highest standard of up-to-date care. She is married with three boys and one cat – much to the disappointment of her children who desperately want a dog!

Lesley Geraghty

Lesley is SDP’s receptionist, on hand to manage appointments, greet patients and keep the office running smoothly. She has worked as part of the SDP team for over twenty years, and before taking on Reception, she was a qualified dental nurse so understands all aspects of clinic life.

Lesley lives nearby in Royston and is married to James. Her daughter, Bridget, is also a long-standing member of the SDP team.

Hattie Tinsley

Hattie joined SDP as part of the nursing team and to manage compliance. She brings loads of laughter and energy, and was even born within a stone’s throw of the clinic (although now lives in Suffolk).

With both NHS and private practice experience, Hattie has seen it and done it, and nothing much phases her. In her former career, she was a qualified veterinary nurse, so has seen and done even more!

When not at work, Hattie is a real book worm and likes nothing better than to curl up with a long read. She loves travel, and she and her husband are regular visitors to the South of France where her father now lives. She is also an expert maker of all kinds of salad dressing.

Juliene Mambeli

Juliene has more than 20 years of orthodontic experience in Brazil, Portugal and the UK. She is an exceptionally skilled orthodontist whose passion is to improve the smiles of both adults and children.

She graduated in Dentistry in Brazil in 1996. She then obtained a Specialization in Orthodontics and Maxillary Functional Orthopaedics in 2002 (Brazil) and an additional Specialization in Orthodontics 2009 (Brazil). In 2018, she earned a Masters in Dentistry in Portugal enabling her to practice in Europe.

Juliene is friendly, cheerful, full of energy and enjoys working with patients of all ages, children and adults alike. She is a dedicated Orthodontist and Invisalign doctor who makes sure patients are satisfied and have a beautiful smile when their treatment is complete. Juliene believes that a healthy beautiful smile brings patients a better quality of life.

Juliene is married, moved to the UK for family reasons and is loving it.  She has 2 lovely kids and a new passion: a tiny teacup Pomeranian called Manu. She loves going to the gym, watching movies, travelling and exploring new places.
